Outreach
Feeding Ministries
Locally, Leeds has a number of ministries to help those in need. We provide baskets of food during the holidays to needy families. Every December, we raise funds through a project called Carol’s Christmas to provide clothing and toys for families identified by schools as needing this help. Also, on the second Sunday of each month, parishioners donate canned goods and other items to the Fauquier Food Bank.
Our most recent initiative is Leeds Feeds; a drive through food pantry once a month.
Racial Reconciliation
Fauquier County has a history of racial separation and tension. To promote racial reconciliation, Leeds Church is in a partnership with Mount Morris Baptist Church, a historically African-American church just down the road. We occasionally hold joint worship services and we build Christian fellowship through a variety of social events.
International Efforts
-
Leeds and several other Episcopal congregations have a mission partnership with St. Marc’s Episcopal Parish in Trouin, Haiti. We finance and support a life-changing Trade School in the town, which is equipping youth and young adults with the necessary education and skills to make a living in one of the most impoverished countries in the world. The priest of St. Marc’s has visited Leeds, and Leeds parishioners have traveled to Trouin on multiple occasions.

Leeds supports a ministry, led by a parishioner, that is doing humanitarian work in Guatemala City. The focus is on transforming the lives of at-risk children from broken families. The principal way the congregation supports this ministry is through sponsorships for their education. To deepen this partnership, Leeds parishioners went on a mission trip to Guatemala. Future trips are likely.
